Paddy Power have Rangers striker Kenny Miller as 3/1 favourites to succeed Pedro Caixinha at Ibrox.

The odds of Pedro Caixinha being sacked as manager of Rangers before the next Old Firm clash with Celtic in December have been cut dramatically after Sunday’s 2-0 Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat to Motherwell.

It’s fair to say Caixinha’s first full season in charge at Ibrox hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far. A humiliating defeat to Luxembourg minnows Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League qualifiers in June had the Portuguese manager already under severe pressure.

And Caixinha has not been helped by a number of disappointing big-money signings, poor results in the league or an ongoing row with fans’ favourite Kenny Miller.

The Daily Record reported last month that Caixinha had turned on Rangers’ homegrown players for failing to make the manager or his raft of imported additions feel welcome at Ibrox, singling Miller out for criticism.

The 37-year-old striker was forced to travel with the Under-20s on their trip to face Brentford rather than join the senior squad for a clash with Hamilton last month. Overall, Miller has not been seen since the 2-0 defeat to Celtic in September.

With Caixinha known for his ruthless streak, many spectators predicated Miller has played his last game for Rangers – particularly after the under-fire manger refused to discuss his striker’s future before the clash with Motherwell, per the BBC.

Though bookmaker Paddy Power’s latest managerial odds offer yet more intrigue. They have the likes of Billy Davies and reserve coach Graeme Murty in the frame to replace Caixinha but top of the pile, the 3/1 favourite, is none other than Miller himself.

Miller has been working on receiving his coaching badges for a number of years and told the Daily Mail in 2015 that he ‘100 per cent’ sees himself as a manager in the future.

But replacing Caixinha with an unproven coach, let alone a star player at the centre of an unseemly row with the club’s current manager, would certainly be one hell of a statement.
