Leeds United are looking for a new manager and they could still be some way off an appointment.

When Victor Orta was appointed as Leeds United’s new director of football, it did not take long for the reports to suggest a familiar face would join him at Elland Road in the form of Aitor Karanka.
When the Spaniard was shown the door at Middlesbrough and Garry Monk shockingly resigned after just a year in charge at leeds, Karanka seemed the most likely solution.
The Sun claimed at the end of last month that he was closing in on the job, but seven days later the club are no closer to an announcement.

In fact, a recent comment from Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani suggests not only that fans should not expect an appointment until the end of the week at the earliest, but that Karanka’s relationship with Orta will not be enough in itself to secure him the role.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the Leeds supremo wrote: “I understand frustration, we are meeting candidates this week. It is important we take the time to make the best decision for the club.”
It is an interesting statement, and one that suggests the Italian is taking a hands-on approach to appointing Monk’s successor, even if Orta and Karanka seem like a dream team on paper.

The latter may have the credentials but he oversaw a relegation with a misfiring Boro side and Leeds will want to not only return to the top flight but remain for the long haul when they do finally get there.
Perhaps Karanka will still get the job in due course, but the fact that Radrizzani is looking at multiple candidates suggests it is not as clear cut as previously reported.
