Will January see one or two signings at best for Leeds United?

Leeds United made wholesale changes in the summer but there is still some work to be done.

With the Sun reporting that Leeds United want James Wilson on loan, and with calls from some fans for an out-and-out left-back at Elland Road, talk has already turned to potential January arrivals, but will any incomings be severely limited due to the significant changes at Elland Road in the summer?

After all, Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen is still trying to figure out his best starting XI after a considerable summer outlay, and adding another raft of players to the mix is only going to make things more complicated.

The likelihood is that Leeds will sign one or two players at the most, with a left-back and another striker potentially the two areas to focus on.

A new centre-back could also be on the agenda but much will depend on how much football Matthew Pennington and Liam Cooper play in the months ahead, with Leeds well covered if everyone stays fit.

The interest in another forward could also diminish if Pierre-Michel Lasogga rediscovers his best form and the likes of Caleb Ekuban and Pawel Cibicki make their mark between now and January.

With Kemar Roofe and Jay-Roy Grot also on Leeds’ books, the Whites have plenty of striking options, but it is up to the players to prove their worth.

The most likely outcome is that Christiansen will be tasked with getting the best out of the players who arrived in the summer, with a new left-back the primary and potentially only area of focus.

That may mean a quiet January window, but the alternative may only muddy the water when Leeds need certainty.
