Huffer made his debut for Leeds on Saturday against Bristol City.

Will Huffer was thrusted into Leeds United’s first team on Saturday afternoon after injuries to Jamal Blackman and Bailey Peacock-Farrell, and he would have been delighted to keep a clean sheet on his debut.
Leeds earned their ninth Championship victory of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Bristol City, thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez – despite Huffer and Aapo Halme making their debuts.
The 20-year-old looked assured between the sticks, but did he do enough to show Marcelo Bielsa and indeed Leeds fans that the Whites do not need to add a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window?
The Whites have been linked with a move for Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, who is currently warming the bench at Ibrox after Steven Gerrard brought Allan McGregor back to the Light Blues from Hull City.
The Express claimed Leeds are interested in the 27-year-old stopper, after supposedly missing out on Tom Heaton as the Burnley goalkeeper is expected to join Championship rivals Aston Villa.
Huffer’s performance was a good start and certainly a step in the right direction in proving that Leeds do not need a new man between the sticks. But he now has an important couple of weeks ahead of him.

Northern Ireland international Peacock-Farrell is expected to recover from his knee injury in a couple of weeks, meaning Huffer is likely to start against Reading on Tuesday and then Sheffield United and QPR.
If Huffer is to convince Bielsa into trusting him and avoid signing a new stopper, he certainly has to keep clean sheets in the games he plays – and perform well in terms of distribution and set-pieces.
If he does that, then Bielsa and Leeds may be convinced to install him as the club’s permanent back-up to Peacock-Farrell and forget about signing a new goalkeeper such as Foderingham.
