Moises Caicedo to Liverpool is beginning to gather momentum.

On Friday, Studio Futbol reported – as covered by HITC Sport – that the Anfield outfit were weighing up a £42 million offer for the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder and Manchester United target, who doesn’t want a transfer to Old Trafford.

Problem is, the Seagulls have already sold a number of massive players this summer.

So far, Graham Potter has lost Yves Bissouma to Tottenham Hotspur and Marc Cucurella to Chelsea in big-money deals.

And although Liverpool are seemingly willing to spend big on bringing the 20-year-old to Merseyside, Jose Enrique does not believe that it’ll materialise this summer, based on who has departed Albion already.

He said on Twitter:

Moises Caicedo to Liverpool?

To be honest, Enrique is probably right in suggesting that it won’t be happening this summer.

However, Jurgen Klopp absolutely does need another midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

With Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones injured, Naby Keita linked with a departure and Jordan Henderson having turned 32, a revamp in that area of the field is absolutely vital for Liverpool.

Sure, they have people like Harvey Elliott and James Milner as covering options, but one is too young and the other too old to possibly lead the Reds to Premier League title glory, if they’re in a position where they have to play every single week this season.

Of course, Caicedo is only a year older than Elliott, but Liverpool are apparently willing to pay £42 million to sign him, indicating a degree of faith that he’s ready for the now, not only for the future.
