Universidad de Chile chief Cecilia Perez admits that ‘there are offers’ for Dario Osorio as Wolverhampton Wanderers look to bring the talented winger to the Premier League, speaking to Radio Agriculture.

Last week, reports emerged claiming that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea were in the battle to secure Osorio’s very sought-after signature. Ditto Brentford, Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion.

As things stand, however, it’s Wolves’ race to lose.

The now-managerless Black Country outfit are reportedly in pole position to sign one of South America’s most exciting teenagers for a bargain £5.5 million in the January transfer window. And while Perez was unwilling to confirm such reports, he did admit that ‘offers’ have arrived for the so-called ‘new Angel di Maria’.

Wolves lead the race to sign Chile wonderkid Dario Osorio

“Today, I can’t tell you we are ready to sell Dario Osorio,” explains Perez, Universidad’s Vice President. “Because he first has to go through the board of directors

“I can tell you that there are specific offers for Dario Osorio. Are there are offers from Wolverhampton Wanderers? Could be. There are offers. He is not ready (to leave). He has not gone through the directors.”

There is still a month remaining in the 2022 Chilean Premera Division season. Universidad are just two points off the relegation zone. And Perez insists that nothing will be agreed while the battle against the drop is ongoing.

“If we get an offer at the height of what he is worth, (and one that suits) the aspirations that Dario has, without a doubt that will happen (he will leave). But not during the season. A decision (will wait until) after the season,” Perez adds.

“The last two years, Universidad de Chile has not been able to sell any player. And that hits you hard in the pocket.”

Osorio, who has been labelled ‘very similar’ to Barcelona’s Raphinha, is already a full Chile international at the age of just 18. He’s also scored six goals in 22 league games this season.

“Am I ready to make the leap abroad? Yes, I’m ready to take the leap,” Osorio explains. “But I’m not desperate to get out of The U. I try to continue working, to gain confidence.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
