League One challengers Sunderland paid £4m to sign Will Grigg from Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic in the January transfer window.

Marquee Sunderland signing Will Grigg has told talkSPORT that he is more than aware of the pressure to succeed at the Stadium of Light this season.
Grigg was The Black Cats’ top striker target during the January transfer window and, after a prolonged transfer saga, finally signed for the club on deadline day.
Sunderland had five bids rejected by Wigan Athletic before finally convincing the Championship outfit to sell, parting with £4 million to snap up the Northern Ireland international (BBC).
And, speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT (5 February, 12pm), the former Walsall, Brentford, MK Dons and Latics forward has admitted that the expectation and size of his new club makes it very different to any of his previous employers.
“In terms of the size its like nowhere I’ve been at before,” said the 27-year-old.

“I’ve watched the Netflix documentary, I’ve had lots of messages on Instagram so it’s no secret, the expectation. It’s something I have to deal with.”
On paper, Grigg looks like a terrific signing for a Sunderland side who lost top scorer Josh Maja to Bordeaux during the January transfer window.
He has a terrific record in League One, having averaged more than 20 goals a season in the third tier. Grigg was the most prolific marksman in Wigan’s squad as they lifted the title less than 12 months ago to boot.
