Patrice Evra is set to join West Ham so what does that mean for the future of Arthur Masuaku?

Patrice Evra has arrived at West Ham United’s training ground ahead of his free transfer and will sign with the club until the end of the season, reports Sky Sports.

Evra joins the Hammers just a few months after being sacked by Olympique Marseille after lashing out at a fan ahead of a Europa League clash with Vitoria.

The 36-year-old is banned from all UEFA competitions until June 2018 as a result but is free to play domestically and therefore can feature for West Ham in the Premier League.

What next for Arthur Masuaku?

The signing of Evra will give manager David Moyes more options at left-back just as Masuaku serves a six-match ban for spitting at Wigan Athletic midfielder Nick Powell during their fifth round clash.

Moyes called the Frenchman’s action “despicable” straight after the game and according to the Sun was called into the 54-year-old’s office when he returned to training for a full dressing down.

Aaron Cresswell has been playing back in his usual role on the left side of defence in Masuaku’s absence having previously been operating more centrally, but the arrival of Evra could see Cresswell revert back there.

What it could mean, though, is that with Moyes clearly so angry with his suspended full-back it could be some time before we see the 24-year-old back in action; even after his ban is served.
