The Everton midfielder has been well below his best this season.

When Everton signed Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United, it was hoped the former French international would get back to his best after two frustrating seasons at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for the Toffees, the midfielder has only shown brief glimpses of his best and in this campaign he has been woefully short of form.

Schneiderlin is far from the only Everton player to have looked out of sorts, but he is one of the worst offenders and it would be no surprise if he was moved on in January.

That said, the 28-year-old could struggle to find another club in the Premier League having arguably under-performed ever since he left Southampton.

At St. Mary’s he made his name as a tough tackling, composed central midfielder who did the dirty work so the more creative players ahead of him could make the headlines.

Everton's French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin warms up ahead of the UEFA Europa League Group E match between Everton and Lyon at Goodison Park, in Liverpool on October 19, 2017.

At United, he fell out of favour, rarely delivering on the big occasion and ultimately shipped out by Jose Mourinho after the Portuguese saw all he needed to see on the training field.

Everton was supposed to be his fresh start, yet he has continued to disappoint and it is hard to imagine another English club taking a chance on a player approaching his thirties whose best years could already be behind him.

A move back to France could be best for all concerned, and a fresh start could enable him to make up for lost time; just do not expect it to be in the Premier League.
