Can Europa League football help Rangers sign Ryan Kent?

Rangers have been frustrated this summer in their pursuit of Ryan Kent.

SkySports report Kent is keen to make the switch, although is keeping his options open amid interest from French and Belgian clubs.

Rangers have not yet been willing to meet Liverpool’s £7 million asking price, and time is running out before the transfer deadline on Monday.

Fortunately for Rangers, they have just earned a major sporting and financial boost.

Rangers last night sealed qualification for the Europa League group stages.

In terms of opportunity alone, this makes Rangers even more tempting for Kent, having experienced the group stages last season and coming close to making the knockout rounds.

The real challenge is not persuading Kent, it is with Liverpool.

The Daily Record reported that group stage qualification would net Rangers a total of £2.6 million.

There is then further prize money on offer, with a win earning a team £500,000 and a draw £170,000. And then there is television and gate receipt funds.

All of this puts Rangers in a better position to give Liverpool the money they want, for their top late transfer target.
