If Wayne Rooney decides not to join DC United and stay at Everton will they instead target West Ham United’s Javier Hernandez again?

Wayne Rooney of Everton is substituted off during the Premier League match between Huddersfield Town and Everton at John Smith's Stadium on April 28, 2018 in Huddersfield, England.

Wayne Rooney’s expected move from Everton to DC United could be cancelled if Sam Allardyce leaves his post as manager, according to the Mirror.

Rooney is in advanced talks with the MLS franchise after being given permission to speak to them by Toffees majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri and was set to complete the transfer having been told he does not feature in Allardyce’s plans.

However, the manager’s own position at Goodison Park is also under question and if Moshiri decides to sack the 63-year-old, the striker would be prepared to stay and listen to the new boss’ ideas.

What about DC?

The team from the American capital had hoped to land Rooney as their marquee signing ahead of a move into their new stadium, but could be left having to look elsewhere.

That could lead them to another Premier League outfit in West Ham United, with the Washington Post reporting that Javier Hernandez is also on their radar.

It is a deal that could happen as the Daily Mail claim that Hernandez wants to leave the Hammers less than a year after joining them from Bayer Leverkusen.
