West Ham United defender Reece Oxford is said to be desperate to play regular first-team football.
Atleti are keen to bring in Oxford, as the youngster is willing to move abroad in the hope of aiding his development.
The 19-year-old is desperate for first-team football, but that has not come at West Ham.
West Ham did recall Oxford in the January transfer window, but David Moyes opted against playing the centre-back.
Oxford was then sent back out on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach, and he has impressed in the Bundesliga.
And Moyes’ reluctance to utilise the youngster could ultimately dent West Ham’s hopes of keeping him.
Oxford is desperate for regular action, and at the moment he has not been shown a route in to West Ham’s first-team.
Moyes now will need to decide just how much Oxford does mean to West Ham.
If the Scottish boss is desperate to keep the defender, he may have to provide him with some assurances of first-team action next season, because if he doesn’t Oxford’s frustration is only set to grow.
If West Ham do decide to sell Oxford, he is said to be valued at £12 million.
