Daniel Farke certainly represents a left-field appointment for Norwich City – though a player Brendan Rodgers wanted at Celtic and Liverpool may follow him.

After the wild and unexpected success of David Wagner at Huddersfield Town, perhaps we should not be too surprised that former Terriers’ director Stuart Webber has made Daniel Farke his head coach at new club Norwich City.

Like Wagner, Farke has made his name working with the Borussia Dortmund reserves. And, as Webber tells the club’s official website, the Bundesliga giants “don’t employ mugs. They have a way and a method which develops fantastic world-class players and world-class coaches.”

And while the Klopp-lite Wagner used his connections to complete a host of bargain buys from the top two German divisions, Norwich fans will immediately be wondering about who Farke will bring with him to Carrow Road.

It would certainly be little surprise if Junior Flores’ name suddenly started cropping up in gossip columns. The 21-year-old has played under Farke for Dortmund’s reserves and, with his contract expiring in the summer according to Transfermarkt, a reunion may be on the cards.

The one-time American wonderkid may not have played a single senior game for Die Schwarzgelben since moving to Germany three years ago but his potential is clear for all to see. According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic wanted to sign him in January after manager Brendan Rodgers was desperate to bring him to former club Liverpool.

And it appears that Flores could benefit from a fresh start after struggling under the microscope of one of Europe’s biggest clubs. A clever and creative central midfielder, he would not look out of place in an attack-minded Norwich side.

With Farke at the helm, Flores could finally thrive.
