Aston Villa will reportedly change formation to a two-man striker system to fit in new signing Danny Ings.
According to the Daily Mail, Dean Smith intends to use Ollie Watkins and summer signing Ings as a pair in attack as part of either a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation.
Moreover, the Villa boss is also considering a midfield diamond with Emi Buendia as the focal point of the system.
The Midlands side often used a 4-2-3-1 formation last season. However, the departure of Jack Grealish has seemingly forced Smith to change tactics ahead of the new season next week.
With Villa signing Ings in a £30m deal from Southampton according to Hampshire Live, Smith looks eager to partner the England international alongside Watkins in the attack.
Indeed, it is an exciting prospect with Ings and Watkins both being prolific goalscorers but who also play different roles in the position.

However, on social media some Villa fans are worried about the potential chance in the system which worked so well last season.
Although Grealish will no longer be part of the squad, Villa’s formation last campaign were impressive and effective when all the gears were moving in the right place.
Here’s what some Villa fans had to say about Smith’s plan for next season and the role Ings will play in that on Twitter…
