Reported Liverpool target Diego Carlos told Diario de Sevilla how he wants to achieve success with Sevilla before moving on to a bigger club.
The Brazilian central defender has been heavily linked with a summer move.
Liverpool are said to be keen on his services, with Spanish editorial ABC Sevilla claiming the Reds have contacted Sevilla sporting director Monchi about him in April.
But in a latest interview, the defender admits pushing speculation to one side.
“Many players who have come to Sevilla have had the opportunity to play in other bigger clubs. First we have in our heads and in our hearts to achieve success at our club. Then, things that have to come will come in time. I only think about defending my club now as best as possible,” Carlos explained.
Carlos, 27, is somewhat of a late bloomer following his move from Nantes.
He enjoyed an excellent run of form prior to the Covid-19 suspesnion. He has started 22 La Liga games, averaging 4.8 clearances and an 83.4% pass-accuracy rate (Whoscored).
Diario Sport claim Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp sees Carlos as the perfect partner for Virgil van Dijk with Joel Matip and Joe Gomez as backup.
The Reds may have run away with the Premier League this season. But, there is room for improvement at Anfield and Carlos could be a super signing.
The defender has a £65 million release clause. Sport add that Barcelona are also keen, but the Catalans currently can’t expect to compete with Liverpool when it comes to finances.
