With Chelsea and Manchester City also interested, will Spurs have to qualify for the Champions League in order to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace?

Tottenham Hotspur have moved their focus back to Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, with the Mirror reporting a third bid is being prepared for the winger this summer.

The Eagles have pushed back attempts from Spurs to sign Zaha on two separate occasions in recent times, but that has not deterred them from returning again.

That is despite the fact that Lucas Moura, who plays in a similar position, arrived from Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window for a fee of £25m.

It is thought Zaha would costs upwards of £50m after another impressive season at Palace and with Chelsea and Manchester City also interested, Tottenham landing the 25-year-old ahead of them would therefore be something of a coup.

Champions League crucial

However, considering two sides currently above them in the Premier League are also keeping tabs on the Ivory Coast international, it is likely a top four finish in 2017/18 will be needed for the North Londoners to win the race.

At the moment Mauricio Pochettino’s men are fifth in the table and one point behind the Blues and the Champions League qualification places.

Convincing Zaha to join them if that remains the same could prove tricky if the forward can be offered it elsewhere, so while City appear to be running away with the title the battle for Europe’s top club competition is set to be as fierce as ever.
