Celtic have been linked with Everton’s Tom Davies, while Rangers want Everton’s Kieran Dowell.

Celtic look unlikely to land Everton midfielder Tom Davies after Marco Silva ruled out a move for the young Toffees ace – but could that benefit Rangers?
The Daily Mail claimed Celtic and West Ham United had made enquiries over a January loan move for Davies, who has been in and out of the Everton side this season. He came on as a substitute against Man City on Saturday.
But Silva was quoted after the match by the Guardian as saying that it would be “impossible” for Davies to leave on loan despite his intermittent game time – leaving Celtic with no chance of bringing him north of the border.
With Davies now set to remain at Goodison Park, playmaker Kieran Dowell remains on the sidelines and desperately lacking in first-team action. He is currently a target for Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers.
Steven Gerrard has been quoted over the weekend by the Scottish Sun as saying that he “admires” England youth international Dowell, who shone on loan at Nottingham Forest last season – having a hand in 15 goals.
Dowell has managed just two Carabao Cup appearances this season, failing to appear for Everton in the league and he remains behind the likes of Davies in the pecking order.

With Celtic failing to land Davies, surely that keeps Dowell in the firing line ahead of the January transfer window and could help Rangers in their bid to lure Dowell to Ibrox.
Rangers have waved goodbye to Ovie Ejaria, after his season-long loan was cut short last week. He has returned to Everton’s bitter rivals Liverpool, and a replacement is needed. Celtic’s failure to capture Davies could help Rangers find that man in Dowell.
