Will Celtic fans see Jack Aitchison again before the season is out?
Celtic have two games in hand over second-in-the-table Rangers and it seems like a seventh successive Premiership title is a mere formality now.
With that in mind, the Hoops, who beat Rangers 3-2 last week, could take a big step toward the title by beating Motherwell this afternoon.
Consequently, Celtic could, in theory, have a number of dead rubbers in the Premiership on the horizon and should manager Brendan Rodgers re-introduce a certain exciting young talent?
Jack Aitchison hasn’t kicked a ball for Celtic’s senior side since last April, but a dazzling performance in Friday’s 4-0 development side win over Kilmarnock means he could be knocking on the door for a run of games toward the end of the season, when Rodgers’s side have nothing left to play for.
The 18-year-old attacker is the youngest player to score a competitive goal for the Bhoys after striking in a 7-0 demolition of Motherwell toward the end of the 2015-16 campaign under Ronny Deila, when was 16.
The youngster, who also scored on Friday, definitely has a bright future ahead of him and who knows, maybe a couple of dazzling performances in the senior set-up could lead to Rodgers promoting him to the first-team squad next season.
