The Aston Villa winger has been sensational since returning to the starting line-up.
The more goals Albert Adomah scores for Aston Villa this season, the more bizarre it seems that manager Steve Bruce overlooked him at the start of the campaign. But while some bosses would have stuck by the guns, the 56-year-old may have made the best – albeit belated – call in his career.
The Villa winger has been a key component in their charge up the Championship table, scoring eight goals already and set to ease the burden following Jonathan Kodjia’s latest injury setback.
It could be argued that Bruce was daft to ignore Adomah in the first place. But the fact that he quickly restored him to the starting XI and subsequently watched him shine means Villa are at the right end of the table with plenty of reasons to be positive heading into 2018.
Managers live or die by their decisions and, in the case of Adomah, Bruce has got it spot on.
Just like picking Alan Hutton out of position and watching him transform in the process, the Villa boss is getting more things right than wrong this season and Adomah is already on course to be one of the second tier’s best performers.
The Villa manager will no doubt be hoping he has many more years in the game, but he may struggle to make many decisions better than the one that has seen Adomah utilise his frustration and seize the opportunity to prove his worth in some style.
