Reports say Joe Bryan will join Aston Villa so instead of the Bristol City left-back, will Middlesbrough now instead focus on Ipswich’s Jonas Knudsen?

Middlesbrough also had a bid for Bryan accepted by the Robins, as reported by BBC Bristol, but it seems that the left-back has opted to make the switch to Villa Park instead.
It means with a little over 24 hours left in the transfer window Boro now need to find an alternative, but perhaps they already have one in mind in the shape of Ipswich Town’s Jonas Knudsen?
So with the former seemingly heading to Birmingham, will Tony Pulis now focus his attention on trying to bring the latter to the Riverside?

The two defenders are similar in age (Knudsen is a year older at 25) and have similar experience in the second tier of English football, but the big bonus for Middlesbrough is the Dane could potentially be far cheaper than his English counterpart.
So the full-back could possibly be available for £1.5m – £4.5m less than the Villans are expected to pay for Bryan – and with George Friend already at the North East club, perhaps this is actually the better outcome for Pulis’ side.
