Former Aston Villa striker, Gabby Agbonlahor, has reacted on the Rising Baller’s Instagram post to Arsenal seemingly rejecting a bid for Emile Smith Rowe.

Sky Sports report that Villa tabled a £25 million bid for the Hale-End academy product, but those in the Arsenal boardroom have rejected the approach for the Midlands giants.

Smith Rowe enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Arsenal colours last season and was one of the standout performers for his side despite their abject failings.

But Villa’s rumoured bid, and then the response from Arsenal, has sparked a lot of talk on social media.

And in the comments section of the Rising Baller’s Instagram page, Agbonlahor issued this response to a fan who urged him to ‘get on the blower (telephone)’ following the Smith Rowe rejected bid.

Agbonlahor responded and said: “Ok. Will be sorted by Monday.”

It has to raise the question as to why Villa are so keen on Smith Rowe’s talents when they have Jack Grealish on their books and they recently signed Emi Buendia.

Many would point towards Smith Rowe being Grealish’s replacement, but the Villa owners have made it clear that they want to keep their star man and have shown their financial muscle in their quest to get back into Europe in recent windows.

Grealish only penned a new deal last summer, so is this Villa really pushing the boat out or are they playing mind games with those in North London?

Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see how all of this saga unfolds during these coming weeks and months.
