Some Wolves fans on social media have been raving over the performance of Ki-Jana Hoever despite the fact they lost 2-0 to Southampton on Thursday evening.
The Midlands club are out of the FA Cup, putting to bed any dreams of lifting silverware for yet another season, but despite the result being frustrating, Wolves fans did have something positive to speak about.
Indeed, Hoever was handed a rare start in the cup, and while most of the team were below par, the teenager arguably put in the best performance of any Wolves player.
The ex-Liverpool ace earned a higher WhoScored rating than any other Wolves player on Thursday, and his performance saw him get a lot of plaudits online.
Hoever played as a right-wing-back, but he wasn’t a marauding attack-minded wing-back that we’ve seen in recent times at Wolves such as Matt Doherty and Nelson Semedo, but he did bring defensive steel to the side, making three tackles, two interceptions and a massive seven clearances.
Regardless of the score on Thursday, Wolves fans were certainly impressed by what they saw from Hoever.
