Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Divock Origi’s fitness as well as an update on Diogo Jota.

Klopp had good news about Origi, claiming that the Belgian will be fine to play against Aston Villa this weekend despite the fact he was given a day off training to recover after the game against AC Milan.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have the best of news about Jota, claiming that the Portuguese forward is yet to train ahead of this game and he remains a doubt after picking up an injury against Wolves.

What’s been said about Origi and Jota?

Klopp gave an update on the two attackers’ fitness.

“Diogo he felt something after the game in the last Premier League game. He hasn’t trained yet, maybe he can train today, then he will be an option, if not, then he’s not. Origi, the intensity meant we took him out for a day and gave him an extra recovery day. He will be fine for tomorrow, he’s not done anything different,” Klopp said.

Great to hear

While this update on Jota is far from ideal, it’s great to hear that Origi will be fit to play against Villa.

The Belgian really is Liverpool’s man of the moment right now, he’s scored the winner in each of the Reds’ last two games, and he may well get the chance to repeat that trick against Villa this weekend.

We can only hope that Jota is back sooner rather than later, but if Origi keeps up his form, the Reds may not miss the Portugal international in this match.
