Aston Villa may want to rival Birmingham City in the race to sign Marcus Maddison.
Steve Bruce’s side are said to have kept a keen eye on the winger, whose time at Peterborough looks to be coming to an end.
Maddison has just a year left on his contract at Posh, and Grant McCann’s side are believed to be reluctantly willing to sell this summer.

Villa are yet to show their hand and make a bid for Maddison, but Birmingham’s interest may just spark them into action.
Villa will not want to miss out on a target to their city rivals, especially as Maddison has the potential to be a major threat at Championship level.
The former Newcastle man proved a major attacking weapon in League One last term, and looks to have the capabilities to perform at a much higher level.
Bruce’s side have generally targeted experienced players over the summer so far, but Maddison could inject quality into their attack.
And if Villa do have their eyes on the attacking midfielder, then now seems like the opportune time to move.
