Aston Villa have already snapped up John McGinn from Scotland.

Aston Villa appear to be targeting the Scottish market, as their January plans become more and more clear.

With John McGinn impressing since moving to Villa from Hibernian in the summer, it seems that the claret and blues could return north of the border again in the new year.

Villa have recently been linked with Scott McKenna in The Sun, and Jordan Jones in the Daily Mail.

McKenna has impressed at centre-back for Aberdeen throughout the campaign, while Jones has caught the eye through his performances in midfield for Kilmarnock.

And the links may just offer a hint about Villa’s transfer plans ahead of the January window.

It is well known that Villa have placed scouts in Scotland, and it seems that Dean Smith is keen to take advantage of that market.

If Villa do bring any players in from the SPFL they will be hoping that they have similar success to McGinn, who has quickly become a fans’ favourite at Villa Park.
