Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Bongani Zungu will not play against Benfica tomorrow.
Zungu picked up a knock on international duty, which meant that he missed out on playing for Rangers at the weekend.
The Light Blues had been hoping that Zungu would make it back in time to feature in Europe.
However, Gerrard has confirmed that the South African will miss out, and Ryan Jack is also a doubt.
If Rangers are without the midfield pair it could be a huge blow to their chances.
Zungu and Jack could have offered Rangers’ defence increased protection if they had been fit, but it seems that Gerrard will have to pick a team without them.
Rangers go into their game against Benfica knowing that a win will almost certainly put them through.
Gerrard’s side have picked up seven points from three games, which puts them at the top of their group as things stand.
