The West Ham manager says the Frenchman is his team’s best player.

West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet has had an excellent start to life in English football. The summer signing from Marseille has been one of the outstanding players in the Premier League this season. That form has seen him linked with big-money moves away from the club and yesterday he showcased his talents once again.

He was integral to West Ham’s victory against Liverpool in the FA Cup and after the game Slaven Bilic was happy to admit that the Frenchman is his best player.

One Sky Sports pundit and former manager himself believes that is a dangerous message from the Croatian.

Speaking to Sky Sports News today (10/02/2016) Ray Wilkins stated:

“He actually said in his press conference didn’t he Slaven, after the game, that he is our best player. He said I have no problem in saying that. He is our best player.

“Yes. I think so (that can be dangerous). He is a member of a very good squad. Slaven obviously feels very comfortable in his own skin and comfortable with his other players to say that.”

Whilst Bilic could indeed risk ostracising the rest of the team the benefit of course will be making Payet feel extra special at Upton Park – which should help fight off any interest in his services from abroad.

Meanwhile the rest of the West Ham players must recognise that Payet has been the star of the show at West Ham this season.

Hopefully instead of being frustrated by their manager’s comments they will instead be focused torward becoming the best themselves.
