Wilfried Zaha has claimed that Crystal Palace were “terrible” – along other choice words – in Tuesday night’s 3-1 loss over Crystal Palace.

The Eagles were swept away in the first half of the Premier League encounter at the Amex Stadium as the Seagulls put three unanswered goals past the visitors.

Roy Hodgson’s side could potentially have launched a fightback following Shane Duffy’s red card before the half-hour mark.

However, this did not materialise, with only a late penalty consolation from Luka Milivojevic making the scoreline a little more respectable for Palace.

Zaha cut a frustrated figure on his 300th appearance for Palace, picking up his fourth booking of the season and putting in a largely toothless display.

Indeed, arguably the 26-year-old’s most significant contribution in the match was winning the penalty which his teammate put away on 81 minutes.

The defeat gave the south coast side bragging rights in the M23 derby and also put Palace nine points behind their rivals.

Zaha has taken to Instagram to apologise to Palace’s fans, pledging to put in an improved performance next time out:

Palace are next in Premier League action on Saturday against West Ham at the London Stadium.
