Wilfried Zaha’s Crystal Palace form has seen him linked with some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson refused to guarantee that Wilfried Zaha will still be at Selhurst Park after the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.
The Ivory Coast winger’s dazzling form this season has lifted Palace from the Premier League abyss and also reportedly caught the eye of several of England’s elite clubs.
The Daily Star claims that Chelsea are seriously considering going in for Zaha next month and that the 25-year-old is also on the radar of Arsenal and league leaders Manchester City.
Unsurprisingly, considering that he is crucial to Palace’s survival hopes, Hodgson wants Zaha to stay but concedes that a time may come soon when his admirers come knocking.
“I don’t think as a manager you can ever give guarantees on anything,” Hodgson is quoted by the Daily Star as saying.
“It’s a great credit to the club and to Wilf that if there are rumours circulating of so-called bigger clubs looking at him and maybe making a bid we should be pleased about that. It means he is doing his job, he’s helping us get the points we’ve been getting.
“If the day comes when one of those rumours becomes the truth, I’ll come to terms with it and deal with it at that moment in time. If you ask me do I want Wilf to stay at the club then I’m like the rest of the Crystal Palace supporters, of course I do.”
As Sky Sports reports, Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign Zaha in 2016 and may rekindle their interest if it becomes clear that Palace are resigned to losing the tricky dribbler.
The Eagles are unlikely to be forced into selling Zaha in January, but if he continues in the same vein until the end of the season, all of the big clubs will be circling next summer.
