Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha has wished Everton winger Andros Townsend a ‘speedy recovery’ after he was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Everton’s official website confirmed on Wednesday that Townsend will miss the rest of the campaign after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury during his side’s FA Cup defeat at Crystal Palace.
Less than a year after leaving Selhurst Park, it was a heartbreaking way for Towsend to leave the pitch over the weekend.
Zaha was playing in the same game as the 30-year-old and he sent this classy message from his Instagram story to Townsend.
“Speedy recovery, my boy,”

An ACL injury at the age of 30 is a worrying sign for Townsend and many will be hoping he comes back from this stronger than ever.
Even though the versatile forward had just dipped out of the Toffees XI in recent weeks, for large parts, he has done well for the club in his debut campaign.
He was signed up on a free when Rafa Benitez was appointed Everton manager in the summer.
Both Townsend and Demarai Gray started the season in an outstanding fashion and provided what Everton had been missing for a long while – quality from the flanks.
But, in general, things started to go downhill for the club and now Everton will be without a key figure during the final months of their relegation fight.
Thankfully, someone like Anthony Gordon is stepping up during this difficult period for the club.
And, someone like Anwar El Ghazi, who has seemingly become the second version of Joshua King at Goodison Park, might now be used a lot more because he has experience of helping teams survive after doing so in Aston Villa colours.
