Wilfried Singo has been heavily linked with Tottenham in recent weeks, yet the Torino defender has added an unexpected twist to the transfer saga after being spotted wearing a Napoli shirt.

As per Tutto Napoli.net on Instagram, the Ivory Coast international was photographed with a friend wearing a Napoli shirt, leading to speculation from supporters and the Italian media that Singo could now be on the verge of signing for the Serie A league leaders.

The photo could come as a blow for Tottenham, with Tuttosport recently reporting that Antonio Conte is eager to sign the defender as the Italian manager looks to recruit a right-back in the January transfer window. However, Napoli could now be in the race.

Indeed, there is every chance that supporters and media in Italy are jumping the shark with his image. Singo is yet to be reliably linked with a move to the Partenopei in recent weeks, and given how popular Napoli shirts are amongst football fans and jersey collectors, there’s every reason to believe the defender is simply a fan of the kit design.

Nevertheless, this photo could do some damage to Tottenham in their hopes to sign Singo in January. And for Conte, a bid to bring the defender to north London will be better off being submitted now rather than later.

Right-back is clearly a position Tottenham need to strengthen in the winter market, and Singo’s profile is ideal for what Conte wants in his squad. And this photo of the defender being spotted in a Napoli shirt should spur the north London club into action.

After all, Singo is a player who could add a lot of value to Tottenham and solve a long-standing problem for the north London side, and this Napoli stunt must be the trigger that pushes Conte and his team to sign the defender in January.
