Stoke City striker Wilfried Bony has expressed his amazement to the Potters website at scoring against his former club last night, as Mark Hughes’ side dispatched struggling Swansea City 3-1 at the Bet365 Stadium to go 12th in the Premier League.

Bony, who is on a season-long loan from table-toppers Manchester City, scored Stoke’s first and third goals, which were also his first for the club. Moreover, they yet again came against his former side – having scored two goals against Swansea for his parent club, he has now netted against them for Stoke.

The game on Monday night marked the end of a seven-game run without scoring for the Potters following his summer loan move, but the Ivorian could not contain his delight as he spoke to the official Stoke City website.

The 27-year-old said: “Personally it was crazy that my first goals came against Swansea, it was nice to get score two but the team performance is the most important.

“The first goal I just followed up the ball and my second I was waiting for Joe [Allen] to give me the ball.

“I think my condition is there and that all I have needed is a goal, I’m very happy I got that and I’m off the mark, but the crucial result is the three points we took.”

Fans of the Potters will be hoping that Bony can continue his new-found goalscoring touch in the weeks and months ahead, where they play teams from all around mid-table, such as AFC Bournemouth and Burnley, as well as a trip to Arsenal, a league fixture they have not won since 1981.
