The Blades boss revealed that he had spoken with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the two clubs are finalising a deal for Henderson to stay at Bramall Lane until the end of this season.
Wilder was asked if there were any talks with the Manchester United manager to bring Henderson back to Sheffield United next season and the Blades boss admitted that he was keen.
He said: “We have had initial early conversations, of course we would, we would be open to Dean coming back.”
“I have got to say I have huge respect for Manchester United and the football club and I have always gone on record as saying he’s Manchester United’s player and Manchester United will make that decision, which is best for themselves in conjunction with Dean.”
“Obviously, from our point of view there’s an opportunity and we would love to take that opportunity.”
Henderson will soon complete two full seasons between the sticks for Sheffield United. The young Englishman has racked up 76 appearances for the Blades, keeping an impressive 32 clean sheets.

There were rumours flying around about Henderson possibly starting for England in this summer’s Euros but that will have to wait for another year at the very least.
Henderson on loan for another year would benefit both Manchester United and the Blades
It is almost impossible for the Blades to convince Manchester United to sell Henderson. However, another loan move is a very realistic option considering that David de Gea isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
Sheffield United fans would love to see Henderson back next season. The Blades have a good chance of making it into Europe next year and experience at that level for the goalkeeper would help the Blades next season as well as Manchester United in the future.
