Liverpool have impressed so far this season, and are firmly in the title race.
Reds midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum was in bullish mood regarding his side’s hopes of catching Chelsea, when speaking to reporters, and explained how it will be so important for Liverpool to focus on their own games, rather than being concerned with the Blues’ results, as quoted by ESPN.
Jürgen Klopp’s men have been outstanding so far this season, and are Chelsea’s closest challengers at the moment, with just five points separating the two sides.

Antonio Conte’s men could extend their lead back to six points, however, with a win against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night, but Wijnaldum insisted they cannot allow their focus to drift towards how their rivals are performing, as quoted by ESPN:
“They are flying right now and doing great but we have to focus on our own games and we will see if we come closer. The main thing is to keep doing what we are doing now, win our own games and not look at Chelsea because we don’t control that performance.”

The Dutchman has been a key figure for Liverpool, since making his £25 million switch from Newcastle United in the summer, and has appeared in 19 Premier League games for his side so far this term.
And if the 26-year-old can contribute with more goals during the second half of the season, there is no reason why Liverpool can’t go all the way, and win their first league title since 1990.
