Leeds have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in their last four outings.
Leeds United goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has told BBC Radio Leeds that “nothing is impossible” when asked if the Yorkshire giants can catch Cardiff City in the automatic promotion places.
Thomas Christiansen’s side currently sit in seventh after regaining a bit of momentum with wins against Barnsley, QPR and Norwich as well as drawing against promotion rivals Aston Villa at Elland Road.
Above Leeds, Aston Villa and Sheffield United sit in fifth and sixth place just one point ahead of the Yorkshire giants on 37 points. Steve Bruce’s side go up against the Blades on Saturday afternoon, so a Leeds win will take them into the top six.
Wiedwald refused to get his hopes up when asked if Leeds could finish in the top two come May 2018, but did say that anything can happen and urged the Whites to continue their run of form.
“We have 24 games to go so nothing is impossible, but we have to do our job and Cardiff is in front of us so they have to lose the games and we have to win the games,” Wiedwald said.
“We have a lot of games in front of us, we did very well last week so we want to go ahead against Hull with three points. We have a big run of games now, but we have to continue if we want to get to the play-off places.”
Signed from Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen in the summer, the 27-year-old has come in for criticism and was even dropped by Christiansen for a run of seven Championship games earlier this season.
However, the German’s stats remain impeccable as he has kept eight clean sheets in just 15 Championship outings, and will be hoping to make that nine on Saturday afternoon against Hull City.
