‘Why would you?’: US pundits say Conte needs to keep the faith in one Spurs player

Speaking on ESPN, Shaka Hislop and Craig Burley have been discussing Heung-Min Son after his poor start to the season.

The South Korean star hasn’t scored in any of the six Premier League games so far this season, and he looks severely out of form.

With Richarlison breathing down his neck, there’s been plenty of chat about Son being dropped from the XI, but Burley and Hislop believe that the Tottenham manager should keep the faith in his star attacker.

What’s been said?

The two ESPN pundits discussed whether Son should be dropped.

“No, why would you move a guy that has been your best player along with Harry Kane. I presume you’re talking about something to do with the Marseille game because I didn’t watch that game. Zero goals this season doesn’t make you a bad player does it?” Burley said.

“I’m with Craig, I don’t see any reason to, the old cliché around goalscorers is that it’s just a matter of time and once they get one the floodgates open and I expect that to be the case with Son,” Hislop agreed.

Credit in the bank

If there’s any player that doesn’t deserve to be dropped after a small dip in standards, it’s Son.

The South Korean has genuinely been one of Spurs’ best performers for the best part of a decade, and while he’s not been at his best lately, he’s still undoubtedly one of the most talented players in this squad.

Of course, this goalless run can’t go on forever, but for at least the next few weeks Son deserves to keep his spot in the team ahead of Richarlison.
