Trevor Sinclair believes Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s long-term future lies at Everton even if Arsenal and Manchester City could do with a prolific number nine like the England international, speaking to talkSPORT (12 May, 12.40pm).

The Toffees may be on the verge of another mid-table finish – sitting eighth seven months after a 2-2 draw with Liverpool lifted them to the top of the Premier League – but the future at Goodison Park looks brighter than Jurgen Klopp’s gnashers.
In Richarlison, Ben Godfrey and the ever-improving Calvert-Lewin, Everton have a crop of highly rated youngsters going from strength to strength under an elite-level manager in the shape of Carlo Ancelotti.
A well-taken winner at West Ham on Sunday took Calvert-Lewin’s seasonal tally to 21, a career-best for a man who has evolved from a hard-working channel-runner to a ruthless, Duncan Ferguson-esque number nine.
And Sinclair, the former England and Manchester City ace, believes the 24-year-old striker is at the perfect club to realise his vast potential.
“If you’re going to say which clubs would benefit from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, I would say Arsenal, I’d say Manchester City,” Sinclair explains.
“Why would you go to Arsenal? There’s probably not many suitors. I think City is the obvious one.
“(Calvert-Lewin) is at a club with a lot of tradition. In the 1980s, Everton were the team. So, if it goes in cycles, their time might come again.”
Calvert-Lewin is under contract until 2025.
In September, Goal reported Manchester United were fluttering their eyelashes in the direction of the then £80 million-rated number nine. Eight months on, Calvert-Lewin’s price tag may be growing by the week.
