Ally McCoist told talkSPORT that there is ’no way’ Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney wasn’t risked for Scotland Euro 2020 opener, so he can be ready for their showdown with England on Friday.
Many were expecting the Arsenal left-back to start for his country against the Czech Republic on Monday.
But instead, he missed that defeat through injury, but it seems as though he will be ready for the Wembley trip tonight.
Tierney ended up training the next day after his side’s Euro 2020 opener loss, which raised the question as to why he then didn’t feature at all the day before.
It was suggested to McCoist that Tierney was being saved for the England game, but the former Rangers man was having none of it.
“No, no, that train of thought, I don’t buy into it at all,” said McCoist. “Why would you do that when your most important game is your first game?
“No way. We have a far better chance of beating anybody with Kieran Tierney in the team. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Luxembourg or France.
“We cannot not afford to play our best players. And Tierney is absolutely one of those, so that’s why I don’t buy into it.”

It’s going to be quite the showdown in a few hours time as England and Scotland rewind back time and lock horns at Wembley.
There are going to be some serious battles out on that field, with Tierney and Andy Robertson expected to be at the heart of it all for their country.
A win for the Scots here would send serious shockwaves across Europe, but Gareth Southgate will be hoping his Three Lions side have something else to say about that.
