Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose is on the radar of Real Madrid, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester United, according to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 62, November 12, 2017) (click here to read more).

Rose is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and now that he is back from injury, it is only a matter of time before the England international re-establishes himself in the Spurs starting lineup and gets back to his best.

However, it is hard to envisage Madrid making a move for Rose when they have one of the world’s best, if not the best, left-back in Marcelo.

Marcelo has been on the books of Los Blancos since 2007 and is one of the most important players in the team.

The Brazil international is one of the left-backs on the planet, and he is going to remain the first choice in that position for Madrid for years to come – after all, he is only 29.

Rose is two years younger than Marcelo, but he would be nothing more than a back-up at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Why would Madrid sign a 27-year-old player for a lot of money only for him to be on the substitutes’ bench? After all, Spurs are not going to sell him on the cheap next summer, are they?

If Madrid are really looking for a long-term Marcelo successor or someone to give him genuine competition, then they would find someone younger and potentially better than Rose.
