Jack Grealish can aim a lot higher than Arsenal when the time comes to leave Aston Villa, former Villans captain Gabby Agbonlahor told talkSPORT (2 December, 8.40am).

They may be in the midst of a run of four defeats in their last five games, but a Villa side who lost 2-1 at West Ham United on Monday night are still sitting pretty in the top half of the Premier League table.

That is more than can be said of Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta was supposed be the man who transformed the Gunners into a domestic force again and, while Pep Guardiola’s young protégé may still prove to be an inspired appointment, things aren’t going to plan at the moment.

Arsenal are 14th, enduring their worst start to a campaign in nearly 40 years. Only three clubs have scored fewer than their ten league goals too.

Did we mention that the aforementioned trio – West Brom, Burnley and Sheffield United – are all stuck in the relegation zone?

There are more sightings of the Loch Ness Monster than there are of Mesut Ozil these days, with Arsenal crying out for a creative midfielder capable of opening up padlocked backlines.

But, according to Agbonlahor, there is no chance of Grealish being lured away by an Arsenal side who suffered a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Aston Villa a few weeks ago.

“Look where Arsenal are. if he ever wants to leave Aston Villa, I’m sure he would be looking at a lot better teams than Arsenal,” Agbonlahor explained.

“Where will Arsenal finish this season? They might finish in the bottom half of the table. He’s signed the five-year deal, he loves the club, he’s got into the England squad playing for Villa so why would he want to move?

“Will there be bids in the summer (of 2021)? I’m sure there will be but Aston Villa have got rich owners who don’t need the money.

“Would they want to sell their best player who, at the moment, all the goals and assists are coming from? I just don’t see it happening.”

Aston Villa placed an £80 million price-tag on Grealish in June (the Mail).

But, after a stunning start to the season, expect the England international to break the £100 million barrier if he does bid farewell in the near future.
