Why is Max Kilman wearing a mask? Many have asked this on Google as the Wolves No.23 appears live on Sky Sports tonight.

The 25-year-old was named in the starting XI by Julen Lopetegui for the clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage, and plenty of spectators are wondering why he has taken on the appearance of Batman in west London.

So, why is Kilman wearing a mask? Let’s take a look…

Why is Max Kilman wearing a mask?

Well, the London-born defender suffered a facial injury during the 2-1 win over Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday 11th February.

Kilman was able to play the entire 90 minutes despite the blow to his face, as Wolves remarkably came from 1-0 down to record a 2-1 win despite having just ten men, after Mario Lemina was sent off in the 27th minute.

The Englishman then played another 90 minutes on Saturday 18th February as Wolves suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Molineux, in which he was seen wearing the protective face mask after his injury against the Saints.

Kilman clearly doesn’t feel comfortable to play in the Premier League without his protective headgear just yet, as he is wearing it for a second successive game tonight as Wolves take on Fulham.

It goes without saying that Kilman will hope for a better result than the one against Bournemouth, or else he may start to think the mask – which Napoli No.9 Victor Osimhen also wears – is acting a something of a curse.

Wolves will be keen to bounce back from their defeat to the Cherries, as – despite an upturn in form since Lopetegui replaced Bruno Lage – the Old Gold still sit just three points above the relegation zone going into the clash against Fulham.

Hopefully, the Wolves No.23 can recover from his facial injury soon, and feel safe enough on the pitch to play without the protective headwear.
