West Ham are battling Watford for Brescia goalkeeper Jesse Joronen, according to Italian outlet TMW.

They claim the Hammers are battling recently-relegated Watford for the 27-year-old stopper.

We’ve got three reasons why pursuing the Finn isn’t the right course of action for West Ham right now…

Other areas need strengthening

West Ham have been pretty clear that they haven’t got shedloads of cash to do everything the fans might want them to do this summer.

Grady Diangana’s departure has caused uproar and the only way it will become more palatable is if the money can be used to strengthen areas of the side which sorely need it.

Central defence, left back and striker are just three of the positions which are a more pressing concern than goalkeeper right now.

Is he better than Fabianski?

Fabianski didn’t have his very best season last time around but he remains a reliable Premier League option.

To make it worth landing a new stopper, he would have to be a clear upgrade on the Pole.

A goalkeeper who kept just five clean sheets last season (Transfermarkt) doesn’t appear to represent that.

Wrong age to sit on the bench

After the nightmare period with Roberto in goal, Darren Randolph was brought back to West Ham last season.

So would Joronen be third choice? Even if he was promoted to second choice, at 27, he doesn’t want to sit on the bench?

The move doesn’t really make sense for any of the parties concerned, and would create unnecessary uncertainty around West Ham’s current options.
