Tottenham look like they are about to admit defeat in their pursuit of Alessandro Bastoni, but if there is any remaining Spurs hope – West Ham can end it by signing Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.
Bastoni, 23, is player that Antonio Conte is ‘crazy’ about. Spurs have been after Bastoni for much of the early part of the summer, willing to pay his asking price – or even offer Davinson Sanchez plus £26million.
But the issue has been convincing Bastoni. His agent has said this week that Bastoni is happy at Inter and is going nowhere. So, Tottenham’s hopes of convincing the Italy defender look as good as over.

If there was any remaining hope of Tottenham signing the ex-Atalanta defender, then West Ham could be about to end it. That is because West Ham are reportedly looking at a deal to sign Milenkovic.
West Ham can end Tottenham pursuit of Bastoni, by signing Milenkovic
CalcioMercatoWeb claim West Ham want to sign Milenkovic – but they are not the only club in pursuit of the 24-year-old giant. Indeed, the report says Inter Milan are also keeping tabs in case Bastoni goes.
The Hammers have long been linked with the defender – who could be on the market this summer. His contract ends in June 2023, meaning La Viola will have to sell now or risk losing him on a free next summer.
Reports say Fiorentina could be willing to do business for just £13million. A potential bargain, for a player that has clocked up 172 appearances in his five years in Italy. He also has 36 caps for Serbia.
So, if West Ham beat Inter and sign Milenkovic, it sees Inter lose the man they were considering to replace Bastoni. It surely means Inter would prevent any sale of Bastoni, without being able to bring in Milenkovic in his place.
