After finishing sixth in the Championship, Derby go head-to-head with third-placed Fulham in the play-offs but West Ham boss David Moyes will be an interested spectator.

Derby host the Cottagers at Pride Park on Friday night before the reverse tie at Craven Cottage on Monday.

History suggests the team finishing sixth usually have momentum while the team finishing third go into the play-offs deflated having just missed out on automatic promotion.

And West Ham boss Moyes will be hoping that is the case if he is to have any success bringing in two of his top transfer targets this summer.

Tom Cairney of Fulham in action during the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Craven Cottage on March 18, 2017 in London, England.

Moyes has been spotted at Fulham on a number of occasions this season reportedly watching midfield star Tom Cairney and right back Ryan Fredericks.

The Hammers were linked with Cairney and Fredericks in January but the West Londoners refused to entertain any offers as they focused on promotion.

Should Fulham get promoted they would keep both Cairney and Fredericks but defeat to Derby could mean quite the opposite.

Fredericks is available on a free in the summer but is expected to sign a new deal with Fulham if they make it to the Premier League.

Cairney wiill cost West Ham a pretty penny but fueled talk of a move to East London when he was caught on camera sat behind the Hammers dugout during their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

So Moyes and West Ham fans will be siding with the Rams this weekend.
