The Tottenham Hotspur man finally found the net from open play at the weekend but is it really anything to shout about?
It was a long time coming, but on Sunday Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen finally scored from open play.
It was a goal that generated plenty of headlines, with many suggesting the Dutchman had finally turned a corner at White Hart Lane.
The problem is, as good as it was to see the 22-year-old break his (non-penalty) duck, are we all getting a little carried away?
Janssen scored the fifth goal in a 6-0 rout against a third tier side playing at White Hart Lane. It was certainly a step in the right direction, but it was a baby step rather than a leap forward.
It would be foolish to write the Tottenham player off so soon; after all, it takes some players a while to settle in a new country and a new league and he is working hard in training to turn things round. But it would also be foolish to look at one goal from open play and suggest the pressure has well and truly lifted.
It has not, because in Harry Kane’s absence Janssen and Heung-min Son will be tasked with scoring Tottenham’s goals against top flight opponents.
Now the summer signing has got the proverbial albatross from around his neck, he needs to prove it is a catalyst for better things to come.
