Watford have been on a fine run of form lately, but it might not be as impressive as you think.
Watford are currently riding a four-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League which has seem them rise up into the top half of the table. Many people can hardly believe that they have just shot up as if from nowhere, whilst others feel that it has been a long time coming. Either way, it is certainly noteworthy despite the fact it may not be as impressive as some would have you believe.
In terms of the quality of opposition the Hornets have come up against, their record doesn’t stand up all too well. Two draws against lowly Bournemouth and Swansea have gone alongside narrow victories against Middlesbrough and Hull, which are not exactly the most impressive of triumphs.

Their defensive displays throughout all these encounters were strong, but the big worry continues to be the lack of finishing ability from the likes of Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney. Watford have relied on their defensive capabilities to secure these results and despite their position, they have still only scored four goals in their last five games.
The game preceding the Bournemouth draw was a 2-0 loss at the hands of Burnley, which exemplifies that manager Walter Mazzarri is still getting his head round the English style of play. With tough games against the likes of Liverpool and Leicester City to come in the next few weeks, the real test will be how they fare against in-form sides.
