Vincent Janssen has received a lot of criticism so far during his Tottenham Hotspur tenure, but he needs to be given time.

Time is ironically one of the most difficult things to find in today’s footballing landscape. For Vincent Janssen, it could be time on the ball, time in the starting XI or even the amount of time he will be at the club. People have been quick to dismiss the Dutchman early on, but he still has alot left in the tank.

First off, just look at his age. At 22-years-old, there is no way we have seen the best of him yet. Janssen still needs time to grow into a more established and mature player, and being developed at a club with a stature like Tottenham will be crucial to how he proceeds in England.

Plus, he has already shown signs of quality despite what some people may have you believe. Three goals in 13 appearances may not scream success, but he is doing well at bringing others into the game and holding the ball up top. On a number of occasions the forward has been pushed out wide where he certainly does not look as comfortable, and that cannot be easy for the youngster.

Then there is the pressure factor. Janssen has been thrust into a higher position of importance so far due to the injury sustained by Harry Kane, and that is alot to deal with at such an early stage. Sure, he should be able to handle the pressure, but that will also come with time.
