UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin decided not to attend the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on Sunday.
Thousands of famous people were spotted in the stands at MetLife Stadium, including Jay-Z, Beyonce, Drake, Kylie Jenner and David Beckham.
However, Ceferin was not interested in attending the biggest game in football due to FIFA’s controversial decision-making.
FIFA has been accused of crossing the line between sport and politics, with Gianni Infantino and Donald Trump taking centre stage.

The reason UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin was absent from the World Cup final
Martyn Ziegler has reported that Aleksander Ceferin “boycotted the World Cup final after the tournament’s political interference issues.”
He also wrote that the “UEFA president’s decision not to attend is more evidence of the complete breakdown in relations with FIFA.”
Ceferin travelled to Mexico City for the opening game of the World Cup between Mexico and South Africa five weeks ago.
However, FIFA’s actions throughout the tournament convinced the UEFA president to boycott the final.
These actions include suspending USMNT striker Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban following Donald Trump’s intervention.
UEFA also feel strongly about the enormous rise in ticket prices and the introduction of a halftime show.
For those reasons, among others, Ceferin did not want to support FIFA and Trump’s World Cup by attending the final.
