Leeds United have seen two of their players called into England’s squad for the Toulon Tournament.

Lewis Cook of Leeds United FC controls the ball during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road on October 17, 2015 in Leeds, England.

With Leeds regularly uncovering gems in their academy, the Elland Road faithful are often able to put together pretty impressive dream sides consisting of those currently plying their trade in the Whites’ first-team and those who have moved on to the Premier League.

The likes of James Milner and Fabian Delph are often suggested amongst the dream signings for Leeds fans, and after leaving for Bournemouth in a potential £10 million move in 2016 – fee reported by the Guardian – Lewis Cook has undoubtedly joined that list having arguably been the most exciting youth prospect to break into the first-team for a number of years.

Cook is now a regular in the Cherries’ side and has an England cap to his name – every accomplishment creates a sense of pride amongst the Leeds fans, but it is also somewhat bittersweet given that he is not ticking off each accolade while attached to the Whites.

Cook is on the standby list for England’s World Cup squad, but may well end up representing his country in this summer’s Toulon Tournament instead – and that may give Leeds fans yet another reason for anguish as it could see Cook line up alongside the youngster that many supporters deem to be the most talented academy graduate in the current Leeds first-team.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Ronaldo Vieira – who scored the winning penalty in last year’s tournament – has been added to the England squad for the competition, and that means that there is the potential for the Three Lions to put together a central midfield partnership of Cook and Vieira.

Vieira may not have been at his best this term, but the rest following the end of the campaign may have done the teenager the world of good and may ensure that he is able to recapture his best form for the tournament – making the competition potentially agonising viewing for Leeds fans as they wonder what could have been had they managed to hold onto Cook or enjoy more success while he was at Elland Road.
