Tottenham are closing in on two signing. Don’t let the cheaper one go under the radar.

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of sealing two transfers, with Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele set to sign.

The Mail report the double deal will cost Spurs in excess of £70 million.

Lyon’s Ndombele is the more costly, with Football London reporting Clarke will cost Tottenham an initial £8.5 million.

Clarke’s arrival will go under the radar a little, with Ndombele the player exciting fans the most.

But it’s just as significant for different reasons.

It shows Tottenham aren’t abandoning the strategy which got them to where they are in the first place.

Being able to pay over £60 million for a player like Ndombele is a major step forward and speaks to Tottenham’s progress as a club.

Continuing to sign young players with potential is just as important, and Spurs are right to take the gamble on Clarke’s natural ability.

The move is intriguing because Tottenham have not raided the Football League since 2015, when the club paid just £5 million for Dele Alli.

Alli has gone onto score more than 50 goals for the club and established himself as an England international.

It’s been odd that Spurs haven’t returned to the lower divisions for a bargain move since. They just completely abandoned the strategy, or did not believe there was a player worth spending on.

Either way, it’s good to see Spurs back in the market for young English talent and that’s significant for the club’s direction.

If Clarke can emulate Alli’s success, due to the attacking nature of his position and style of player, in time he could be an even more influential player than Ndombele.
